The Sparx sharpener does a great job of sharpening goalie skates! If your goalie skates have a cowling, you will need to install goalie risers to sharpen your skates - they come included in the box. 

If you have the new cowling-free style of goalie skate, you will sharpen them the same way that you would sharpen a player skate. 

We don't recommend the FIRE ring for goalies. Today's goal tending styles rely on a deep hollow for strong pushes across the crease and for recovery from the butterfly or half-butterfly positions. With the FIRE ring, the hollow is flattened and not as deep as a traditional rounded hollow. This makes it more difficult to dig the edge of the steel into the ice; you really need some momentum to engage the edges with a flat-bottom hollow.
