Radius vs. FIRE RingsUpdated a month ago
We offer two different types of Grinding Rings. Sparx Radius Rings produce the traditional round radius of hollow while the FIRE Rings produce a flat-bottom hollow. The flat bottom hollow is designed to allow more glide in the blade without sacrificing the edges that you want/need for quick stops and sharp turns.
For those looking for the exact ring you need, we built the tool for you, the GRIPGLIDE Match Quiz on our mobile app. The app will ask you the Skater's age, height, weight, position, skating-style, and skill level to provide recommended Grinding Ring options.
In terms of how this feels on the ice:
- A 3/8 FIRE has an edge/grip feel similar to a 3/8" traditional radius, and a glide feel similar to a 9/16" traditional radius.
- A 1/2 FIRE has an edge/grip feel similar to a 1/2" traditional radius, and a glide feel similar to a 11/16" traditional radius.
- A 5/8 FIRE has an edge/grip feel similar to a 5/8" traditional radius, and a glide feel similar to a 13/16" traditional radius.
- A 3/4 FIRE has an edge/grip feel similar to a 3/4" traditional radius, and a glide feel similar to a 15/16" traditional radius
