Which direction should the skate face?Updated a year ago

Both ways will work. We previously advised toe to the left because it is typically easier to judge your contact point on the heel than it is on the toe. But, with most skates we see demoing in the field, their toes have been worn down so much we need to hit higher on the toe than we do the heel.

To get the high contact point on the toe, while not jamming into the heel and causing the sharpener to throw an over-current error, we suggest sharpening toe right. This has to do with the rotation direction; the wheel spins counterclockwise and if we have a steep vertical angle with the heel to the left (when facing toe right), the ring will gently climb down the wall on the return to the home position versus having it on the right where the ring won't want to climb down and jams the sharpener.

Either way, the finish will be smooth and this won't affect performance.
